At a Critical Moment for America, Republicans Are Trying to Bring This Country Down

The images of members of the United States Congress, standing outside a Manhattan courtroom, serving as stooges for a defendent being indicted for attempting to subvert the laws of this country protecting it from corruption of free and fair elections should fighten any voter in the country who paid attention to their American history and civics courses in junior and senior high school into a commitment to vote against everything those members stand for when the November election rolls around.  Anyone who has a basic understanding of America, its history and its government, could, and should, immediately recognize the danger to all that has made us who we are and what we stand for represented by these individuals.  

Members of Congress, lawmakers, standing outside a courtroom where a law breaker is being tried, as the Constitution of the United States requires, demonstrating support of his inability to exercise self-control and for his contempt for the law, are really sending a very clear message that they, too, hold the law in contempt, and resent any attempt to enforce it.  They are taking a position that tells the country, loud and clear, that they are not American patriots at all, but that they are standing against the rule of law that their own political party once trumpeted as a campaign theme.  

What Do We Do With Members of Congress Who Demonstrate Open Contempt for the Law?

It is impossible to claim support for a "nation of laws" and then visibly demonstrate solidarity with a man who shows nothing but contempt for the law.  

And who are they depending on to keep them in power, and to put this lawbreaking, corrupt, inept, incompetent, immoral, hateful demagogue back in the White House which he ruined with the stench of his corruption and immorality during his first term?  Those who didn't catch those American principles, values, and the sacrifices made to protect them, from their history and civics lessons in school.  They hope that there are enough Americans who are ignorant and uneducated in democracy and the freedom it provides to cast their ballots for them, and keep them in power.  And some of them, including the criminal defendant they are supporting, have openly expressed their contempt for educated Americans.  

Some of this group of members of Congress who are standing against the Constitution, the law, and against the people who empower it, are doing more than merely hinting at violent overthrow if they do not get their way.  They are advocating for it and actually using some carefully crafted catch-phrases and dog whistles to call it out.  They have, for all intents and purposes, set themselves against the Constitution they took an oath swearing to defend, and in so doing, have completely disqualified themselves for the position they hold in Congress.  The problem is that the system for removing them can't function in the atmosphere of partisan poison they have created to protect themselves.  

The means we have at our disposal to get rid of these unqualified, contemptible politicians is the ballot box.  But they know this, and are doing everything they can to undermine this power, too.

It's unfathomable that an elected member of the United States Congress would openly state they will not accept the certified results of an election.  This is a deliberate attempt to undermine the election.  It is also a tacit admission of their realization that the criminal on trial in Manhattan is not likely to come out of the election as the winner.  They obviously know this will be the case or they would not take the step of coming out in public and proclaiming their own lack of character, their personal corruption and dishonesty, by stating that they will not accept the election results.  

That is, they won't accept them if Biden wins.  If Trump wins, well, that will be a different story.  And that very fact tells every single American who knows anything about how our country works, that these members of Congress are not only not qualified to serve where they are, but they are using their position to serve their own interests, and not those of the people.  And they are telling their own supporters that they are the most gullible, stupid bunch of idiots in the world, to believe this garbage they are selling.  Those who believe this, and fit that description, don't recognize they've been insulted, and will vote for them. 

Let's just hope there are still enough well educated, intelligent, free-thinking Americans who know what this country stands for, and are still true patriots, to give them an electoral beating they'll remember for generations.
