To the Democrats in the US House: Don't Make This Mistake Again

I'm talking about the mistake of helping House Speaker Mike Johnson stay in his seat and defeating the vote to vacate brought by Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Greene is a despicable, antagonistic, mindless and ignorant member of the House, for sure.  I will not disagree with that.  She is a disgrace to her office, and does not have the personal dignity or character required to be called a Congresswoman.  It's on her district, which must be one of the most backward and politically uninformed populations in the country, for wanting to send someone to Congress like that, as their representative.

But Johnson is not demonstrating any character or moral backbone as a member of the House, either.  His rherotic and his record when it comes to defending January 6th and denying the results of the election, all of which makes him a disgustingly dishonest liar, disqualifies him from serving in the Congress, and more specifically, from serving as the Speaker of the House.  History will not be kind to this man, who has covered up what intellect and legal experience he might have with solidly partisan politics, to his detriment as far as I am concerned.

His is the kind of party spirit that Washington had in mind when he condemned such an attitude in his farewell address.  And that's what separates visionary leadership from the use of power for selfish interests.

It takes integrity to tell the truth and to be the Speaker of the House.  Johnson, with this act of idiocy, has proven he doesn't have any.  So it is time to move on.  It is unfortunate that we will probably see someone even more dishonest, duplicitous and deceitful than Johnson, and without a doubt, the GOP will always nominate a liar who claims the 2020 election was stolen.  But, an election is coming, so let them make their deplorable record and chose yet another speaker who lacks integrity and is too partisan to stand on his own two feet.  It'll just help more Democrats get elected to office.

So please, if a vote comes up again, and it looks like there will be enough Republicans to support vacating the chair, please do not sully your own integrity by voting in support of keeping Johnson in the speakership.  Let him go.  Of course, if the choice is still within reach of the GOP caucus, they'll still pick an unethical liar to be their leader.  They can't help it.  But not by the hand of any Democrat will they keep perpetuating their own dishonesty and moral bankruptcy.
