But I digress
I listen, I pay attention, I read a variety of accurate and trustworthy news sources to get my politics straight and I see what's happening, and the fact that it looks very much like the last two blue tsunamis, the one that hit George W. Bush straight in the face during the 2006 mid-terms, and the one that blew Trump out of the water in 2018. And I see what Republicans can do to avoid it. Here are some suggestions. The best thinking is sometimes the result of sitting isolated in the boondocks So to speak, anyway.
Come Up With a Workable, Single-Payer, Government Operated Health Care System
Both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were Democrats who had some great ideans and plans when it came to putting together universal health care for the American people. Obama's plan even reduced the actual cost of providing services, and increased the number of Americans who had access to quality medical care by the millions. Republicans could improve their political standing tremendously by coming up with a workable plan to reduce health care costs without reducing the quality of service provided.
I'm not talking about a typical "Republican" health care plan, which creates more ways for private insurance companies and medical service providers to profiteer off people's illness and suffering, which is what they always want to do. I'm talking about coming up with Medicare for all, something that actually removes profit margins from both insurance coverage and health care services, and gives access to the system to all Americas. We've heard alll the arguments, but we know this can work because it does in a lot of other places, like Great Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Spain and the list goes on.
We're Americans. It is, therefore, possible for us to use our resources and our collective national will to come up wiht a workable health care system that everyone can access equally, and in which the costs are half what they are now, to receive the same level of care. Let the critics call it "socialized medicine," whatever it is, it will benefit the majority of the American people and we are the ones who call this shot.
And that will be a major vote-getter for its supporters.
Give the Tax Breaks to the Working Class
Stop treating billionaires like they can buy the ability to run the country their way. Lowering and paying off the national debt will help the economy in ways we might not ever thing about. The only way to do this is to make the billionaire one percenter class of Americans pay their fair share in taxes. Fair share means the amount of money which covers the cost of all of the government services from which they benefit in order to make their money, that's what it means. And that's a reasonably higher percentage of their income than the middle class or working class pays.
We've been hearning about a check that everyone is going to get off the tariff revenue that has been generated by Trump's tariffs, which are hard to figure our since so many of them have been struck down by the courts. No, we're not getting a check off of it, so don't plan for that. That's a big lie. It doesn't work that way. It would be nice, though, if the stuff we buy didn't cost so much, because of tariffs.
Simply recognizing the morality, which falls under a true, genuine Christian worldview, and not the phoney baloney that conservatives call a "Christian worldview," of fair taxation, and the responsibility that Jesus himself placed on those with massive wealth compared to the common people of his day would go a long way toward improving those tanking job approval numbers. The early Christian church was socialist. That is documented beginning in the book of Acts, chapter 4, starting at verse 32 and running to the end of the chapter. The first controversy in the church, handled by its leaders, was to appoint seven men to oversee this equitable distribution of goods and money to ensure that the Greeks among the congregation were not discriminated against.
This equitable redistribution of wealth angered the political leaders of that era as well as it lights up the anger of the privileged and powerful in our time. The fact that there was no meritocracy is a clear indication of the recognition of the fact that social injustice ran rampant, and that it was part of the mission and purpose of Jesus Christ to establish social and economic justice among those who claimed to be his followers, in the church.
So maybe, while fixing some economic issues that would go a long way toward earning the votes of the working class, Republicans could finally practice the Christian values they have been preaching for decades.
Dump Trump
If Republicans want to have even the slightest chance of not drowing in the coming tsunami, they've got to impeach and convict this President. Understand that J. D. Vance is not, in any way, shape or form, qualified to be President of the United States, either, he doesn't have anywhere close to the influence, negative or positive, that Trump does. And right now, Trump is a drag on the GOP that, even with their attempts to steal the election by gerrymandering, will cost them 40 seats in the House. Mark my words, I said it here.
And there will be more than the expected number of senate seats which will fall, too. I'm guessing the Democrats can pick up three for sure with the numbers we're seeing at the moment, with the weakness the GOP has demonstrated with those who have stepped down in states where Democrats have the wherewithal to win. A five point swing is all that it would take for the Democrats to draw even, and the swings we're seeing in special elections and in midterm polls at this point have been much larger than that.
Personally, I see the same thing that happens to Trump happening to Vance, maybe slightly faster. It doesn't take that long to realize these guys are all talk and no action. Trump believes his supporters, especially the core of MAGA, are bottomlessly naive and stupid. He thinks that if he just says something, they'll believe it whether it is true or not. And they are blind to the fact that he has nothing but contempt for them, and for who they are. And when it comes to the government, and how it works, and the Constitution, Vance is clueless. Completely. He will need someone to hold his hand and walk him through everything.
This Only Scratches the Surface of How Bad The Trump Administration Has Been For This Country
We need to impeach and remove six justices from the Supreme Court. I'd like to see Thomas and Alito get the axe first,, then Gorsuch, Alito and Roberts, in that order, and then Coney-Barrett. I know, none of this is happening now, but it is where the country is headed and how we are thinking and it is going to take a lot of fixing to repair it in the future, if it can be fixed.
What we are more than likely going to have to do is wait, hope that we can elect a more progressive President in 2028, and then make sure we hold their feet to the fire to prevent this from ever happening again, with some risky, but bold moves in legislation, and in prosecuting the criminals, a difficult task given the President's pardon power. We won't be able to impeach the Supreme Court, but this time, we can't sit around and let them be the blockade to progress. We need to break the filibuster, and pack that damn court with liberals who will restore everything this court has destroyed.
And that's just the beginning. Are we up for it? We need to make sure we elect politicians who are, that's for sure, and say goodbye to the foot draggers and game players who wouldn't get up off their seat to do anything when we could, during the first two years of the Biden administration. Those people need to be gone, too.
Oh, and I don't expect the Republicans to take my advice here. I'm so confident they will never do the right thing for the American people that I can put it out here as a suggestion, knowing it is against their nature to be in favor of the life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness of the American people.
